Jo Aichinger, founder of the Imago Dei and Glatt&Verkehrt festivals, was the initiator of many exceptional projects and a passionate advocate of new music of all styles. Our finale is inspired by his legacy. On Easter Monday, according to Christian understanding at least, all is well once again and happiness has returned. But there is one line in this extraordinary evening of songs that speaks of happiness as a fragile state: “You can hear happiness staggering on down the street.” (Jimi Hendrix, “The Wind Cries Mary”) And it is also about the passing of time, for example: “Time for sale, by the metre, by the litre, neatly bottled” (Maja Osojnik, “Cas na prodaj”). Above all, however, there will be new songs specially composed by Clemens Wenger, befitting a tribute to Jo Aichinger. The musical setting is inspired by the image of funeral bands from New Orleans: with sombre processional music, we enter the church and then, at the end, cheerfully, even ecstatically, return to the open air. Maja Osojnik is the main vocalist, Martin Ptak delivers the brass sounds, and Clemens Wenger is the bandleader. All of the evening’s musicians can be seen as Jo’s companions. Whether they perform as soloists for one song or are on stage the whole time, the motto is: 150% dedication! At the very least. Just as Jo set out to do... By the way: We’re naturally also gonna play “Hey Joe.” After the show, the Verein der Freund der Kunstmeile Krems invites you to bread and wine. |
